Customer Testimonials
Comments from clients about their birth experience with our doulas.
Our doula was wonderful. At first I had doubts if it was a good idea to spend money on a doula, but actually it was the best idea I ever had. Without our doula I would have been much more scared and lost not knowing which techniques to use to relieve the pain. She was such a big support. Teresa
The birth of our first child was very traumatic. I was beyond fearful of giving birth again. I also felt as though I missed out on the experience I had always envisioned. I was introduced to our doula early on in my 2nd pregnancy. I shared my story with her and described my hopes and wishes for this birth. She provided me with priceless resources and assisted me in becoming more informed. Her empathy, knowledge and support was beyond anything I could have ever asked for. My labor and delivery experience was amazing and perfect in every way. I’m no longer traumatized by my 1st experience because now I have a new memory and a different perspective. I truly believe this would not have happened without our doula. I now value her as not only an amazing doula but also a great friend. My husband and I are forever grateful. Adrienne
The greatest benefit of having a doula was having someone that was familiar with all the medical jargon and was able to help us decipher it. Also it was helpful for my husband to have support when I was taken in for an emergency c-section. Our doula's presence was invaluable and we could not have done it without her. Her unwavering support before, during and after the birth got us through very scary situation. Amanda
The greatest benefit was all of the prenatal visits and communication. I loved being able to have someone to talk to via email/text/phone if I needed to. Doctors don’t do that. I loved being able to talk to our doula postpartum as well after our very rapid birth. 5 months later I still feel as if I could call if I had any issues. I loved my experience. Cristina
To be perfectly honest when we were driving to the hospital I was wondering what our doula would do since my mom and husband would be with me. I knew why I wanted a doula but was having doubts. Boy were my doubts unfounded. Her calmness and knowledge kept our birthing atmosphere so calm! Not to mention she provided a good buffer between my husband and mother who get along but have a little of that husband/mother in law relationship! Emily
When I first saw the price for having a doula, I wasn’t sure if it would be worth it. Now that I have seen the benefit I would gladly pay double the price because it is so worth it! She comforted and praised my efforts every step of the way. She calmed my husband and let us know things were going great. She supported us through every contraction. Lora
My doula gave me confidence and courage that I could and would achieve the birth experience that I hoped to achieve. I am firmly convinced that choosing to hire a doula was the single greatest decision I made towards achieving a natural and peaceful birth. I cannot express how valuable I found her gentle guidance and intuitive nature during my birth and I can’t imagine doing it without her. Maria
Looking back on my 31 hour labor I now realized that I trusted my doula more than anyone in the delivery room. My baby was 8 days late and over 9 pounds. My doula’s techniques made it possible for me to have the drug free delivery that i wanted for my baby and me. I had incredible back labor, and my doula knew exactly how to provide the counter pressure that I needed to work through each contraction. She also gently coordinated my husband and my mom in the delivery room so that everyone was purposefully involved and helpful to me. My doula anticipated every stage of labor I would go through and knew exactly what to do at each crucial step. Her confidence in me is what pulled through the most difficult and wondrous event of my life. Trust me you will love your doula.
If you spend money on anything in your life spend it on having a doula with you during the most intense thing you will ever do. your doula will prove to be an irreplaceable and priceless member of your birth team. I’ve met so many other women who would rather forget about their delivery because it was so traumatic or had become everything they hadn’t expected. I am able to remember the birth of my son with fondness largely due to the support my doula provided. I can’t wait to do it all again. Erin
She did a great job, I really felt comfortable with her as much as I probably could with a relative stranger (no offense intended) sharing such an important, intimate event. She was a great addition to this VBAC experience and I will forever be grateful for the confidence it provided me in attempting the VBAC. Thanks! Mandy
She was so helpful during the pre-labor stage in counseling me on whether to go to the hospital or not and just for checking in to provide reassurance. During the birth she was a big support for me and my husband, helped us to communicate frequent updates to our families and took some wonderful photos for us. Ellen
Helping us navigate all of the information the doctors and nurses were giving to us. We didn’t have many questions but knowing she was there with us helped provide the calm atmosphere we wanted for our birth. Lucille
Because of my health issues we were very thankful to have someone who knew the ropes and could help us make good decisions as well as someone to be there for the duration to help monitor the situation. My condition could have changed so quickly, it was important to me to have someone there who could recognize anything that didn’t seem right and then to be able to talk to me, my husband or the staff about the situation. I appreciated everything she did and was so glad to have her there to support me and my husband in every way. Thank you for being so attentive to my every need and so calm and supportive, there were moments when I was really scared and not at all sure that I could do what I needed to do but you gave me courage. Elisa
She was a calming yet strong influence that supported my goals and most importantly helped me to maintain my focus. Gretchen
The guidance and support that she provided was the greatest benefit that she provided. Without her then we would have just felt like we were being shuffled from place to place. It was so reassuring that there was someone consistent there the whole time who was there to support us. I know that my husband was so glad to have her there-it would be unfair for me to depend on him throughout the process when neither of us really knew what to expect next. Jennifer
The pressure was off my husband to remember everything form the birth class. There was someone to talk to and ask advice of that was not a relative. I felt like she was an advocate, a clearheaded one, of what we wanted for our birth. And she brought a hot water bottle for my back labor! Katie
My doula knew exactly how to get me through each contraction and stage of labor. As our baby came 3 weeks early we were not prepared, she helped me with labor while my husband packed our hospital bags and installed the car seat! I felt I was in good hands when I needed advice! Julie and Caesar
Our doulas’ steadiness calmed us. We also really appreciated her sense of humor. And although it may seem strange to say, the way our doula treated my wife made her feel loved, it really was more than just feeling cared for. Gary
Our doula was fantastic, supportive, reassuring, sensitive, easy to talk to, thoughtful, and incidentally, a GREAT photographer! Her continuous presence during the labor was so comforting it made the whole experience less scary and helped us to actually enjoy the birth of our son. Catherine
I now see first hand the value of a doula. While I knew she would be helpful, her attentiveness to my wife (getting juice and water, hot water packs, massages, etc.) allowed me to focus on keeping my wife relaxed. I am sure I would have felt lost and overwhelmed if I were alone in the task to keep my wife comfortable during our 21 hour labor. I am forever grateful for our doulas’ help. Mike and Sabrina
We felt that our doula not only met but exceeded our expectations. She helped us make sense of what was happening when our carefully crafted birth plan gave way to an induction and then c-section at 37 weeks. She stayed with us through a VERY long induction and helped me and my husband to be comfortable and feel supported. She was easy to be with, very knowledgeable, supportive, wise, caring, and had a wonderful ability to ask the right questions of me so that I could stay in touch with my feelings and make the best decisions for me & my family. She embodied the concept of solidarity. We are so grateful that she was such an integral part of our son’s birth! Heather
I don't know how people go through childbirth without a doula! The greatest benefit was having someone there with us through each step of the process—especially when we were left alone to labor. My doula was particularly supportive as my labor took unexpected turns—not effective epidural and emergency c-section. Things got a little crazy and confusing near the end. Having her there made me feel more comfortable. Also, her follow-ups regarding how labor went were helpful in giving me more information as I processed how things went. Jenn & Bill
As a doula myself, it was important to have that extra support person to let my husband know that everything going on was perfectly normal. My husband was nervous about the whole labor and birth process, so it was great that our doula was a calming presence in the room. She can definitely read the room and act accordingly, this is a skill that any great doula should have. She took the time to explain everything that I could not to my husband. She also reassured me that everything was fine and normal when I was having trouble coping through labor. My labor ended with an unplanned caesarean delivery, our doula was supportive every step of the way. They allowed her to be present in the operating room, which once again eased my husbands fears and worries. She blended seamlessly with my entire birth team. My husband and I are so grateful she was present for the birth of our first child! Melanie C.
Having the option of a share was perfect for my situation. It allowed me to obtain support from two experienced doulas (who happened to be friends!) and provided them with the opportunity to do what they love and maintain their sanity. Monique
