CAITLIN KISH, MCDAs a birth doula of 4 years, seeing over 60 babies come in to the world, I’ve fallen more in love with this job with every family I support. I have a passion for educating expectant families and supporting them through their entire prenatal period, labor and birth, and postpartum. It’s a blessing to be able to be with families during such an intimate moment in their lives. Getting to witness parents become parents to their new little ones, transforming from the people they were before walking in to their birth space and getting to witness the miracle of childbirth is possibly one of the best things a human can experience aside from becoming a parent and building a family, themselves.
I am a DONA trained and Madriella certified birth doula of 4 years, working with Birth Doulas of Pittsburgh for just as long. I am also a trained homebirth midwifery assistant and am a student midwife. I am currently in my 2nd phase (of 4) in my Portfolio Evaluation Process to sit for my North American Registry of Midwives exam to become a Certified Professional Midwife. I work as a student serving an entirely Amish population. Alongside, I am taking Bethany Stricker’s Steps to Midwifery courses. I am up to date on CPR, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Basic Life Saving for Providers certifications. I am also a certified postpartum doula with Madriella and have taken additional training for Breastfeeding for Birthworkers. I’m my personal life, I am a mommy to three little girls! Sadie, 4, Allison, 2, and Jessa, 7 months. All born with midwives! I am also happily married to my husband Andrew for 6 years! We live in the New Kensington area. I was a hard core ballet dancer most of my life with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and have trained and been offered positions with Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, and Studio 19 Dance Complex. I am also a Pure Barre instructor of 7 years counting! I have a bachelors degree in Psychology and Criminology from Chatham University and worked as a legal advocate at a domestic violence agency directly out of school with ambitions of being a victims advocate in the FBI, until the birth world called me! In college I did internships at Pittsburgh Action Against Rape and the District Attorney’s Office of Allegheny County in the Crimea Persons unit. I also am a certified victims trauma counselor with PAAR. Blessings in your upcoming birth and can’t wait to meet you! |
