Jessica Thomas CD(DONA)My name is Jessica Thomas and I am the mother of 3 children. My first son was born in 2008 and my daughter in 2012, and my second son in March 2015. I am a full-time high school teacher in Allegheny county. I teach family and consumer sciences classes and have always had an interest in childbirth. I have studied and teach high school age students about the birth process with the intention of educating them for their future. I became interested in doula work a few years ago, after viewing the documentary "The Business of Being Born." I have always been fascinated with childbirth and wanted to get involved in the process somehow. After learning about the job of a doula from the documentary, I became really inspired to get involved in the process. Even though I have a busy schedule, becoming a doula seemed to be the perfect fit for me with the flexibility that I have in the summer months! After having children myself and feeling extremely supported, I realized that I wanted to help women have a satisfying birth experience as well. I want to assist women in this memorable experience by helping them feel empowered, educated and supported! I also feel it is important for the mother's partner to feel involved and supported throughout the process and I am happy to help them throughout the process as well.
