FAQs
Do you have one or more backup doulas for times when you are not available? May we meet with the backup doula?
You will have a primary doula assigned to you and we always have a back up on call system. You can meet all of the doulas at our monthly meetings and/or read about them here.
What is your fee? What does it include? What forms of payment do you accept?
Contact us today for current pricing information. You can reach our Director, Bethany Brown at [email protected]. Cash and checks are always accepted as forms of payment. Debit and credit cards can be accepted in many cases. Doula services may also be covered by HSA and FSA funds, if that is a part of your insurance.
Tell me/us about your philosophy about childbirth and supporting women and their partners through labor.
At your prenatal visit, we like to find out what your needs and desires are for the birth. We are happy to support you no matter what you are hoping for, whether you want medication from the moment you walk into the hospital, wantsno medication or are somewhere in between. During labor we help to remind you of your wishes, and try to help you to have your ideal birth. We find out what relaxes you so that we can provide these comfort measures during labor. We will help to provide any information that we can when you have questions during labor, and will facilitate communication between you and your caregiver. Basically, our philosophy is to be as supportive as we can of you and your support team.
May we meet to discuss our birth plans and the role you will play in supporting me/us through childbirth? May we call you with questions or concerns before and after the birth?
We prefer at least one prenatal meeting, and are happy to talk to you via phone or email at any time with questions, concerns or just to chat. After the birth we will check in with you to see how you and your new family are doing, as well as to schedule a postpartum visit to talk about the birth, give you your birth story and to discuss your view of the birth.
When do you try to join women in labor? Do you come to our home or meet us at the place of birth?
Whenever you want additional support we will be happy to come to your home or meet you at your birth location.
Do you work with the hospital staff?
We absolutely work with medical staff! We've been working with the local hospitals, birth center, and home birth midwives for so long and value the relationships we have come to have with the nurses, midwives, and OBs in the area.
