Jenny collier cd(dona), sbd, lcceAs the mother of four children, I grew to have a very deep understanding and love of childbirth. I became a doula, because I wanted to encourage other women to develop their own unique appreciation and nurture their desire to have a positive and rewarding birth experience. For many, childbirth can be equally wonderful and terrifying. I do everything in my power to help my clients develop trust in their natural ability to give birth, allowing them to move beyond any fear and transition gracefully into motherhood.
While all of my four children’s births were amazing, they each came with their own individual set of challenges. Much as in life, I learned that how we respond to these challenges is what shapes the remainder of our experience and helps us to find peace, not only in the choices that we make, but in life’s little surprises. As a doula, I provide my clients with the ultimate support and guidance that every woman deserves throughout this process. In addition, I take a special interest in the involvement of partners, during the birthing process. When hiring a doula, many couples struggle with the role that their doula will play, during the birth. I’m very sensitive to this aspect, as I work to integrate all of my clients’ support people, while still respecting their boundaries and keeping them within their comfort level. I believe that our children's births are sacred moments, that should be remembered and cherished. To me, being a doula is not a job, but a ministry; one that I take very seriously and hold close to my heart. To that end, I’ve continued my education, throughout my years as a doula. I am certified with DONA, and a certifying Lamaze Childbirth Educator. I am also fully accredited with Stillbirthday in pregnancy loss, stillbirth/bereavement, and difficult diagnosis. Being a doula is one of my life’s greatest honors, in addition to being a wife, mother, and Godmother. My husband Eric and I have been entrusted by God with three handsome boys, Damian, Massimo, and Jude and a sweet little girl, named Trinity. I am forever grateful that He has blessed me with the opportunity to be the first to welcome so many new lives into this world; and, my promise is to honor Him with each birth that I attend. |
