Emilie Hoffman Delestienne, MPH, LCCE, CLCReflecting on births I have had the privilege to attend, I get goosebumps thinking about bearing witness to and supporting the innate power, strength and emotions of birthing women. Birth is raw, unpredictable, beautiful. As a doula I feel called to protect the sacred space of birth by not only providing emotional and physical support for the mama, her partner and/or supporters, but also creating room for you and your supporters to make informed decisions. As a member of your birth team, I am your advocate. My goal is to help you navigate the unfamiliar road that is birth and motherhood. As an aspiring lactation consultant, I also support you in your breastfeeding goals, beginning with the first latch.
Women are strong, women are resourceful, women are warriors. Becoming a mama transformed me. Beginning with birth, becoming a mother first with my son and then with my daughter, helps me to discover new strengths while simultaneously challenging me and filling me with joy and delight beyond my wildest imagination. Enthusiastic natives of Pittsburgh, my husband, son, daughter and I live in the Point Breeze neighborhood of Pittsburgh and can often be found playing outside, going on local adventures, cooking, baking and happily feeding people! I work as a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE) and will sit for the exam to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in October 2017. |
