Chelsea Johnson, IBCLC, CD(DONA), SBDA woman's experience during birth changes her forever. That's why I believe in supporting women throughout their journey to motherhood. Education, information and support help ensure a woman feels that she is an active participant in her birth. It's my job, as a doula, to help a woman and her family navigate the sometimes unpredictable nature of birth with confidence.
My journey to motherhood was a catalyst to my current work as a birth doula. Before giving birth to my son in 2017, my husband and I experienced infertility and miscarriages. These experiences initiated my appreciation of the pregnancy and birth process. After a wonderful experience with my own midwifery and doula care, I knew I wanted to assist women and their partners prenatally, during birth and postpartum. I was trained as a doula in 2018 and feel it an honor to be able to assist women during this transformative and vulnerable experience. In addition to my work as a birth doula, I am a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Many women have the intent to breastfeed and it is important that we build networks of support for new mothers in the way of lactation assistance. I am excited to be able to empower women to reach their birth and breastfeeding goals! I currently live in South Fayette with my son, daughter and my husband of 7 years. Birth aside, my recipe for a perfect day is simple: coffee, hockey and baking. |
