Amanda White, CLC

Witnessing and experiencing childbirth has been a beautiful experience for me. I am in awe of the power and design of a woman’s body to carry out such a process. Unfortunately, I have also witnessed and experienced instances where that power has been stripped from a woman because she was not able to make her own decisions. It is my goal as a doula to help women to make those choices during their birth experience. It does not matter if your approach to birth is more “natural” or more “medical.” My desire is that you feel at peace with the outcome. Empowering women to make informed choices in their care is the key.

I have experienced challenges in my own journey of motherhood. These include an unplanned cesarean and multiple miscarriages. It is my hope to turn these negative experiences into positive ones by helping other women to deal with their own challenges. I have also experienced the “highs” of birth and would love to help other women to achieve their own empowered births.

I am an RN and I am passionate about advocating for the autonomy of others, especially in vulnerable moments. As a nurse, my relationship with my patients is always influenced by doctors’ orders and hospital policies. As a doula, I can put all my focus on my client and her partner. This is an exciting new angle for me.

I live in Avalon with my husband and 3 daughters - Lily, Clover and Meadow. We like to spend our time as a family hiking, camping, and visiting museums.
