Davona SimpsonI’m Davona—a mother of six, three of whom I personally birthed, and a trained doula whose work is deeply rooted in compassion, advocacy, and experience. Supporting families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum is personal for me.
Before becoming a Doula, I spent 23 years working as a Business Analyst in the Healthcare industry. In that role, I help translate complex systems and medical language into information people could actually understand. I created training materials, help teams problem-solve, and support others in making confident, informed decisions. At the heart of that work—and everything I do—is a passion for helping people feel empowered to advocate for themselves. My journey into birth work began at age 20, when I found myself pregnant and navigating the process alone. I didn’t have an established OB-GYN and was routed through a clinic system with constantly changing providers. There was very little education, consistency, or connection. When it came time to give birth, I was overwhelmed by a crowded delivery room and received medications with little explanation—my baby was crowning moments later. I remember feeling numb, confused, and unsupported during one of the most vulnerable moments of my life. After giving birth, I struggled with postpartum depression as a new single mother. During that season, I made a quiet but powerful promise to myself: I would heal—not just for my child, but so I could one day walk alongside other mothers and help them feel supported and never alone. That promise led me to become a Doula. Today, I support families by being a steady, informed, and compassionate presence throughout their birthing journey. I bring both my professional skill set and my maternal experience into every interaction, meeting families where they are and honoring their unique needs. I look forward to supporting you! |
