I was the Director of Birth Doulas of Pittsburgh from 2003 to 2018, and am a 1991 graduate of the Pittsburgh School of Massage Therapy. Birth Doulas of Pittsburgh is a private birth doula service that provides professional labor support for women in labor. I provide continuous emotional and physical support for the laboring woman, as well as the family and friends they choose to have by their side. I provide clients with the comfort of knowing that I am their advocate before, during and after their birth.
Earlier in my career, as I worked with infants and pregnant women, I saw the difference that massage made for mothers and their babies. The natural progression for me was to begin to work with women giving birth, so that they could have a more positive birth experience and help to nurture their babies. So in 1996, I decided to become a birth doula, and since then, I have found this work to be very rewarding both personally and professionally. It has changed my life in a profound way.
My partner, Zenon and I have an amazing son – Justin Robert. We reside in the Franklin Park area of Pittsburgh and also have a home at Seven Springs. I was blessed to have my doula, midwife, Zenon and my mom present at my birth, which was truly a fulfilling and joyous experience. It is a privilege and honor to be able to give that same experience back to others.
Over the years, I have enjoyed working with birthing women and their birthing team to provide them with support, comfort and knowledge throughout their birth journey.
